My essay “Drawing the Oankali: Imaging Race, Gender, and the Posthuman in Octavia Butler’s Dawn” is finally out, in print, in Approaches to the Teaching the Works of Octavia E. Butler (MLA 2019) edited by Dr. Tarshia L. Stanley.
I am so thrilled that the essay is finally done and available (though sadly it was cut down by half–there were more examples and student responses in the fuller version).
