Huzzah! I sold my first poem! Entitled “Dear, Ursula,” the poem is about my experience meeting and spending a little bit of time with the legendary Ursula K. Le Guin during two visits to the University of Oregon for the Tiptree Symposium. I was teaching at UO at the time. When she passed away in 2018, I was inspired to write the poem. It will now appear in the edited collection Climbing Lightly through Forests: A Poetry Anthology Honoring Ursula K. Le Guin edited by Lisa Bradley and R. B. Lemberg forthcoming from Aqueduct Press in early 2021. Hopefully, January!
I am really thrilled because I have been working to get back into my creative writing chops. Mainly, I want to work on bridging the academic and creative writer divide, to show that I can do both (and maybe one day teach both). Now to work on my first short story publication!
